So, I was talking to my (almost) sister-in-law @jessistampi about her upcoming wedding and realised there are so many things I've learnt, firstly by planning my own wedding on my own and also through being in this industry for so long.

I'd love to share some tips with you over the next two months as we get ready for this family wedding! I cannot wait!

One thing that came to mind is how daunting it is not knowing what stationery you need (let alone what stationery options there even are. I've put together a list of common stationery items with a little description.

WELCOME SIGN - this is typically placed at the entrance of your chapel OR reception or you can have one at each. This sets the tone for your guests as they arrive on your wedding day.

TABLE SEATING - There are endless unique and fun ways to lay this out. You can have small pages per table hanging from anything from window frames to macrame or printed onto bottles - the options are endless. The more classic approach is a large print of all the tables on one board.

NAME TAGS - this is important for most big weddings as seating will be planned before the wedding so as to avoid awkward family interactions or friends who are exes sitting at the same table😅 Again, endless options but this is usually a small tag placed somewhere at your guest's spot so they can find their seat.

MENU - This is such a fun one, it can be a HUGE part of your decor on the day. If you're using them on your plates, the colour and style are super important. They can really make (or break) your theme and colouring of your table. This is also NB if your guests need to choose a meal on the night, they can have a full description of the options before making their choice.

ORDER OF CEREMONY - This is a really nice touch and a nice way to keep your guests entertained while they wait for the bride to arrive at the chapel. This can include anything you want, there are great ideas like fun facts about the bride and groom, the whos who in the bridal party, your love story and much more.

As this year comes to a close, I would like to share with you what a HELLUVA year I've had!! It's been the best and worst year for me! 😅

🤍My baby girl arrived over a month early which was very stressful but wonderful at the same time
🤍We have had more Covid regulations put in place and be removed which has affected so many of my brides
🤍We dealt with the KZN looting which was very scary being on a farm and with an 8 day old baby straight out of NICU
🤍My parents moved from Gauteng to KZN and are now 10 mins away
🤍My husband and I (and both babies) got Covid and had to isolate without help for 12 days
🤍I have worked with brides from ALL over the world this year, which has been amazing
🤍I have (somehow) not only kept my business going through the pandemic and having two pandemic babies but grown it too!
🤍We have experienced a lot of extreme weather which has caused a lot of damage and chaos in our area
🤍I have hired assistants to help me process the work I need to get done for my bridal couples
🤍I have learnt (am still learning) how to be a mom to TWO under TWO while working from home (send wine!)
🤍I have continued to work with incredibly talented wedding planners all over SA

Just to name a few!!

I am so looking forward to what 2022 has in store for me (brave or dumb we are yet to find out)! 🥂😉 I have my health (back - thanks Covid), I have a beautiful family, a business I love - I'm pretty grateful, all things considered!

All I can say is that I am so grateful to all my brides who I've worked with this year - you have been incredible. To all my 2022 & 2023 brides - lets do this! ✨

Okay so I know I've been super bad at posting on my socials this year but it's been a crazy one! I'll explain before the close of 2021!

Sorry for the radio silence on my side over the last few weeks - its been a chaotic time although I feel we tend to say that throughout the year!

I have some very exciting news - I'm going to be a BRIDESMAID at my brother-in-laws wedding next year!

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I adore weddings and celebrating LOVE! So this is just my natural habitat!

So one of my most special friends tied the knot recently, and I got to be a part of her special day not only as a guest but as their Wedding website & stationery designer.

For my groom on our wedding day...

We all know the build up for your wedding (especially for my pretty pandemic brides), is days and weeks and months of planning, thinking about the little things, worrying about all the things, getting everything perfect for your big day!

Something I enjoyed so much was preparing a gift for my husband to be. I gave him a watch because "it's our time now" as well as a pair of slippers saying "I know you don't have cold feet but here's some slippers anyway" 😍 I also hand wrote my own vows to him and ended with some excitement and plans I had for our future as Mr & Mrs. I asked one of his groomsmen simon and a mutual friend of ours to give it to him in the morning before he started suiting up.

He really appreciated it and it gave him a watch he now wears and I hear him telling our son how mama gave him this watch on our wedding day, and my heart still melts 😍🤍 Would highly recommend gifting your man something special on your wedding day!

LEVEL 3 baby!! 🥂

Gosh guys, what a rollercoaster we've been on in the last 16 months! I feel for my beautiful brides desperate to celebrate their weddings and all waiting on Uncle Cyril's words!

I think we will be churning out pretty resilient couples through this time! I loved hearing my phone start to ping as the President announced Level 3 and my brides were able to tell me we're back on track and the show will go on!

After the absolute shambles that was the past two weeks (especially in KZN), I have to reflect and be so grateful that I have patient and kind brides who have been so understanding of the delays we have all faced recently.

With all that 2021 has thrown at us, I still feel a sense of positivity, about this beautiful (crazy) country I call home. We have witnessed so much kindness and compassion within our community and it just goes to show that the majority of South Africans are just so lekker!

I thought we could kick off the month with a FAQ I get quite often...

Q: I've never worked with a Wedding Website & Stationery Designer before, what do you do/what can I expect?

A: Typically my journey with you begins when you're ready to send out your Save the Date - we discuss your wedding theme preferences or go with something fairly neutral and plain if you haven't decided this yet. We design your Save the Date and get that sent out while you decide on the rest.
Next step is usually the Wedding invite - we design your Wedding Website according to your wedding theme and look and feel. This gives your guests a look into what your big day is going to be all about!
My sites include sections including:
- your love story
- a countdown timer
- Wedding info/details
- Accommodation
- Transport
- Gift registries
- Tourist info
- A message from the bride & groom
- Fully functional RSVP form

Once this is up and running then we can start on your Wedding day Stationery, this can be anything from Welcome signs, Programs, Menus, Table Seating Charts, Table numbers, Name tags, Couple Logos and all sorts more!
